In this lesson, we break down the fundamentals of “infrastructure” and illustrate its crucial role in application deployment. Imagine an office building that houses a company’s operations. The physical structure—comprising walls, rooms, power supply, and network cables—is analogous to infrastructure. These elements create the foundation for efficient operations, much like a building provides a secure, well-equipped environment for employees. In this scenario, the employees symbolize the active participants who collaborate, innovate, and drive the organization’s value. Applying this analogy to an application:
  • The application—which encompasses business logic, UI, UX, and other functionalities—represents the company’s workforce. It is responsible for delivering value and executing core business processes.
  • The underlying infrastructure supplies the essential resources required to support the application. This includes computing power, storage, networking, and security, much like how a robust building supports its occupants.
